CRICKET.

The_ match on Saturday between the representative cricket team and an eleven of the D. C. C., with Paramor, resulted in the defeat of the former, who played with three substitutes. The respective scores were 60 and 70. For the representative team, the highest scorers were Allen with 15, and D, K. Rhodes 10 ; for the Eleven, Meares, a new player, and I'homson with 10 each, Paramor with 18, and Clark with 14. The bowling and fielding on both sides were really good, and F. Fulton and Vfacfarlane are to be complimented on the clever catches each made. That made by F. b niton at short-leg, off H. Rhodes, was one of the smartest pieces of fielding we ever saw on the Oval.

We have heard it whispered that neither Godby nor Kettle is likely to go to Christchurch, but we hope the rumor has no foundation. for the presence there of both thepe players is almost indispensable,.
