FATAL ACCIDENT AT GREYTOWN.
A man named William Smith, employed on the railway works at Greytown, was accidentally killed yesterday afternoon. Deceased was one of a gan_< employ- d in getting balla t for the line, which they pro-
cured by removing] the stuff from a f;ice, leaving “ legs ” of .the earth for support l hese legs had been removed for the pur pose of bringing down a fall of earrh, ami deceased, who was passing at the time, was caught by the fall, and crushed to dea r f> Mr Coutts, overseer on the line, at once w- nt down to Mos del on an engine, and cd the services of Ur. Inglis, but it is thought death was instantaneous. Deceased wa a single man, a native of cotland, and hj dno relatives in the Province. An inquest wilt be held to morrow.
