SAWYER’S BAY. At the meeting in this district the repott of the retiring Committee was read by Mr Monia, the secretary. By it, it appeared that the Provincial Government had acted most liberally towards tbe district, having expended Over L 620 in building the new school and in the teacher’s salary, &c., during the year. The Committee also reported favorably regarding the local funds at their disposal, and on the ready manner in which the residents had replied to appeals made to them. The receipts from two concerts, with the balance from last year and the amount received from tbe Government, enabled the Committee to drain and fence the ground, and a balance of L 4 18s lAd remains in the hands of the treasurer. The average daily attendance at the school throughout the year was 43 out of 82 on the roll. The small attendance during the last quarter was owing to the prevalence of measles among the children. The new Committee were urged to use every endeavor, now the average attendance was over 40, to have the school classed a main distiict one. Mr Sutherland, the master, had performed his duties most satisfactorily during the past two years. Messrs Nelson, Morris, Ross, Cook, Honeyton, Groves, and Sutcliffe were elected the new committee.
