he f dlowing report of the newly-elected Committee was to hive been pies -nted to the numbers of the Chamber of Commerce this afternoon, but «he meeting lapsed through wa-'t of a quorum : The Committee, in obedience to the instruction of the Ch .mber, conveyed to them in a resoloution passed at the annual meeting, took 1 into immediate consideration the question of obtaining a suitable apartment for the purposes of the Chamber, and have the satisfaction to report that as a result of an application made to his Honor the Superintendent the Provincial Government has agreed to place at their disposal a very suitable room in the Government Buildings, next the Hesident Magistrate’s Court. It new remains to secure such addi tions to the membership of the Chamber as are necessary to strengthen its interest and provide the needful funds to meet the annual expenses. To this end the earnest co-operation of all existing members is demanded in bringing in as many as possible of their friends who may be eligible. It is desirable, also, that the Committee should be authorised to invite such persons to join at once without ballot. The Committee have not yet before them the means of estimating the expense of fitting up the room and providing a supply of papers, &c , but will have to be guided by the amount of funds which may be placed at their disposal.
