CRICKET.

THE MELBOURNE CUP MATCH. (By Telegraph.) The Challenge Cup Match—East Melbourne v. South Melbourne—was continued on December 19, being the fourth clay of the match. South Melbourne made 170 in the first innings, and East Melbourne 259. South Melbourne on December 12, when the stumps were drawn, had got 315 in their second innings, with the loss of six wickets. When the game was continued on the 19th, Conway, the not out of the previous week, with twelve to his name, and Blackham went to the wickets, and the latter soon showed some excellent cricket. Conway, after making 31, was bowled, and Tinsley caught after contributing 24. At the fall of the eighth wicket, when Blackham’s score stood at 47, and not out, rain came on and inter rupted the game, which was adjourned till the 28th. South Melbourne’s score in the second innings now stands at 439 runs with eight wickets down—the greatest number ever obtained in the Colonies. Allan and English have yet to bat, and if they score nil —a most unlikely thing—East Melbourne has to make 350 runs to win. THE INTERCOLONIAL MATCH. By the Easfcy we have a meagre reference to the Victoria v. N.S. Wales match. In their second innings N.S. Wales made 86, with the loss of four wickets, Thompson contributing 35 of the number. The following were the scores made : NEW SOUTH WALES—SECOND INNINGS. Gilbert, c Hastings, b Boyle ... 3 Thompson, c Blackham, b Sleight 35 Sheridan, c Blackham, b Costick ... 18 Tindall, st Blackham 6 Bannerman, not out 22 Gregory, not out 1 Sundries I
