Monday, January 4. (Before J. Logan and J. Brown, Esqs., J.P’s)
Drunkenness.—John M ‘Lennon, arrested for drunk and disorderly conduct in High street, and George Grey, charged with a * imilar offence in Princes street, were enen let off with a caution. John M ‘Donald, arrested in Moray place for drunkenness, was order d to pav LI, the cost of his conveyance to the lock-up. James Lewes was fined 10s, with the alternative of twenty four hours’ imprisonment. Petty Larcfny —George Lewis, a new arri'-al, was charged on the information of Samuel Dcodeward with stealing a quantity of child’s toys from the Caledonian grounds on the 22nd inst.—Complainant stated that on leaving the grounds he secreted the toys in a booth, covering them over with a shutter, and shortly after he observed prisoner removing them. On witness interfering a crowd of roughs attacked him, and he was obliged to seek police protection.—The Bench ordered prisoner to be imprisoned for two weeks, with hard labor.
