Samson sailed on Thursday evening With a number of excusionists for Oamaru. The ketch Edith Reid arrived yesterday from 1 the Molyneux, and passed up to Dunedin. The Harbor Co.’s s.s. Maori sailed last evening for her second trip for Milfoi’d Sound via the Bluff. The s.b. Bruce took a number of excursionists outside the Heads and round White Island yesterday. . Messrs Houghton’s s.s. Express arrived yes- ■» terday morning from the Bluff, and passed through to Dunedin. She brought a number of excursionists, and the Invercargill cricketers. The ketch Glimpse arrived from Moeraki yesterday with a full cargo of stone for transhipment. Captain Campbell reports the arrival there of the schooner Fiery Cross and the deJiarture of the Falcon with a full cargo of stone or Melbourne. The topsail schooner Zior, with a full cargo of timber from Hokitika for Oamaru, put into the Port yesterday. She left Hokitika on the 24th instant, had variable winds and calms principally from the N.E. to N.W, the whole •way, passed Banks Peninsula on the 30th, and arrived off Oamaru at 8 p.m. on the 31st. She left Port Chalmers on the 22nd September for Wanganui, which she has made two trips with timber. The N.Z. Co.’s s.s. Taranaki arrived at the railway pier from the North at 4 p.m. on Thursday. She left the Manakau at 10.30 a.m. on the 24th, and arrived off Taranaki at 4 a.m. next day; left again at 6 a.m., and asrived at Nelson at 9 p.m. ; left again at 10.- 0 a.m. on the 26th, and arrived at Picton at 6.30 p.m. ; left again at 3 a.m. on the 27th, and arrived at Wellington at 9 a.m., where she run an excur■ion trip next day, and returned the same evening; left for Lyttelton at 4 p.m, on the 29tb, and arrived there at noon on the 30th ; left again for Port Chalmers at 6.30 p.m., and arrived as above.
