PROSPECTUS. PROSPECTUS OF THE ALBION BREWING- AND MALTING COMPANY (Limited), DUNEDIN. Capital £40,000, In 40,000 Shares of £1 each. Eight per cent, guaranteed. Two Shillings and Sixpence to be paid on Appli cation; Two Shillings and Sixpence oi Allotment; and Five Shillings per Shar on the Ist June, 1875 ; Five Shillings oi the Ist August; aud Five Shillings on th Ist October. THE NEW ZEALAND DISTILLER! COMPANY having entered into a; Agreement with the Government of New Zea land to abandon the business of Distillation oi the 30th June, 1875, are now prepared to offe to the public their Premises and Plant, for th purpose of establishing a Brewery and carryinj on their present large Malting business (fo which they are admirably adapted) on term which it will be admitted, on consideration of th following particulars, are of the most advan tageous character, viz.;— The Freehold Property comprises two ful acres of land, in a b!ock having frontages t Cumberland aud Castle streets. The Buildings, built of brick and stone, wit] slated roofs, are of a most substantial cha racter. Plant (the greater portion of which is suitabl for a Brewery and Malting Establishment) i complete and perfect in every respect—the onb addition required for a Brewery being a Cellar which can be erected for about L 2.000. Witl this and some trifling alterations, the Plan will be available for Brewing purposes within ; month or six weeks from tho date at which th Distillery Company are required by law to ceas operations. Malt Floors and Kilns.—There are on th property two Malt Floors and Kilns capable o turning out from 1,000 to 1,200 bushels of mal per week ; and from the advantageous positioi of the work, having a frontage to the Bay, am receiving the benefit of the cool draughts of ai which continually proceed iherefrom, Maltin can be carried on all the year round, which i quite an exceptional thing, even in the Oh Country. The Malt from this establishmen has always commanded the highest price of an' produced in New Zealand ; and the supply fo some time back has been inadequate to the de maud. The Beer produced from this Malt i of the very beat quality. The profits from thi branch of the business may be expected to be o a very substantial character, as during the pas year, even with the limited amount of Mal available for sale, they exceeded L 2,500. Am as there would be a large quantity to dispose o in connection with a Brewery, tne yearly pro fits would be proportionately increased. The capabilities of the Premises and Plan for the purposes of a Brewery have been care fully examined and estimated by a competen authority (a gentleman who built some of th largest Breweries in the neighborhood of Ediu burgh), who states that from 400 to 500 hogs heads of Beer could he made per week wliei the trade required it, which is greatly in exces of the quantity which can be turned out by an’ other Brewery in New Zealand. This capa bility to produce Bo much more Beer at ver; little extra cost of management must alway give the Albion Brewery Company a great ad vantage over other Brewing Establishments and as the trade is increasing greatly here, am being opened up with the neighboring Colon of New South Wales and Fiji, no doubt th full power of the Company’s Works wouL very shortly be called into operation. Water Supply.—The Distillery Company, a considerable expense, constructed a cpverei Brick and Cement Reservoir on Mr Logan 1 property, next the Town Belt, and laid pipes t the Distillery, thus obtaining a private suppl of the best water in the District, free fror every impurity, for the purposes of steeply Malt, Distilling, or Brewing. Cottages.—On the Property are three (3 substantial four-roomed Cottages, for the use o the Principal Employes of the Company, wh require to reside on the Premises. Value of Land, &c.—The Land, Buildings and Plant of the Distillery Compahy wer valued £by Messrs Blair and M’Gregor, ii March last, for a local public company, a L 27,450. Since then land in the neighborhooi has been sold considerably in excess of thei estimate; and there can be no doubt that in.; very few years this property will double it present value, contiguous as it is to the Rail way Terminus, Jetties, and other importan lines of traffic. A short siding, of about thirt; yards in length, will enable the Company ti place their goods on the railway cars, thu saving a large yearly expenditure in cartage. Price of Property.—The present proprietor require for the Land. Buildings, and Plant com plete (including th© private water supply) thi sum of L 30,000, cut of which they will pay al the preliminary expenses of floating the Com pany; and so confident are they of the succesi of the business, that they are willing to taki paid up shares to the value of L 15,000 as par payment of the purchase-money, and will fur ther guarantee 8 per cent, on the paid-up capi tal for two years from the commencement o the business, and will give good and sufficien security for the due payment of this guaranteec interest—such security to be lodged in thi hands of any Trustees the Directors may ap point. They feel perfectly secure in undertak •ing this prospective liability, from the fact tha the profit on the malt aione should pay over H per cent, on the paid-u • capital. As to tin profits of breweries all over the world, it is no: necessary here to dilate: they are known to hi large, and to compare favorably with any othe; business that can be named. Capital. —When the shares are all disposer of, there will, after purchasing the property, b( ample funds to make the alterations before alluded to, and to cany on the business, as the sale and returns from beer are almost immediate, Staff.—There is at present in the employment of the Distillery Company a complete staff of competent experts, whose services are at the disposal of tne Brewing and Malting Company. The present manager (than whom a more competent man is not to be found ic these Colonies) is willing to undertake the management of the new concern : and the Company’s experienced traveller (wnoso qualifications are well known) is also open to engagement.

. Quality of Beer.—lt will be the determination of the Albion Brewing Company to send | nothing but the beet quality of beer, and thus secure a lasting and constantly increasing demand for their brand. The sple reason the present favorable opportunity is offered to the public for investing their capital to such advantage, is that the present proprietors of the property desire to retire for a time from the active management of business. They are thoroughly confident that, under proper management, no business in the Colony will yield a better return than that of the Albion Brewing and Malting Company (Limited), when once fairly established. Insurance has been effected on the buildings and plant to the extent of L 20,000. This prospectus is thus early laid before the ablio, to enable the new Company to get their ellar erected, make the necessary alterations, arrange barley contracts, manufacture malt, and have everything in readiness to commence operations as scon after obtaining possession of the premises as possible. The Distillery Company hope to Live manufactured the maximum quantity of spirits allowed in their contract with the Government about the end of April, in which case they will at once hand over the property to tie Albion Company, and so enable them to commence operations before the date above-named Application for shares to be sent to MESSES WEBB & FULTON, Dunedin.
