LATE TELEGRAMS.
Christchurch, December 30. Another brand! railway, thirty miles long from the Rncecourse Station near Christchurch to Soiithbridge, will be opened for general traffic in c ebruary. Wellington, December 30. A great many unemployed or partially employed men are hanging about the town disliking to go to the country. An advertisement f.T a storeman for one of our merchants was answered this morning byover 200 applicants. A few days ago about the same number applied for the situation of driving a baker’s cart.
