WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board was held to-day; present, tbe Chief Commissioner, Messrs But ter worth, Reid, Clark, and Bastings. Mr J. Stony requested a lease of section 7, block 7, N. H. and Biueskio district. To be sold by auction under clause 161. The question of valuation of fencing in Waiko koi Hundred was considered ; and also tbe upset price at whi hj the land to be sold there should b<- offered. The land to be open for sale on the 7th January ; upset price 40s. to be sold under clause b5, fair compensation for improvements having been paid to the runbolder. Messrs Smith and Anderson, for Mr G. Beer, asked that the protection for a trainaY granted him be altered to protection for a road with a shoot, near Gleuorcby tm It, Mr Wfslny Turton, for Messrs Humphreys and Cowan, objected to a renewal of tbe protection, as \ir Beer had not constructed a tramway or made a road. Referred to the Ranger for report The Wakatipn Ranger reported on Mr M'Laren’s application for a le se of 10 ) acres at <>ne-raile Bush, Nhotover, with leave to construct a tramway to Queenstown. Lease to be granted for ten year-, at 1.60 ( er annum, subject to revision of prices by the Board from time to time, and to the conditions recommended by the Ranger. Mr Thomas Jamieson applied to purchase 200 acres of Dalhousie Bush Rese ve, as land of special value. Referred to the Ranger for report, to ascertain if it might be surveyed for sale, and, if so, what sized sections it should be cut up into. Mr Doughty, for Mr Alexander Prater, asked permission to occupy the land h<dd by him under license in Bush Reserve, block 10, Dunedin and East Taieri, after the exniry of the license, to enable him to remove the timber stacked thereon. Tbe Chief Commissioner remarked that this would break through the regulations, and the application was refused. Messrs Webb and Fulton, for the Mayor and Town Council of West Hawkabury, applied for a lease of the lagoon. Granted under danse 161, at LI per annum. The unauthorised settlement of deferred payment run 205 was referred to the r>i ß . trict Land • ffficer, with the suggestion that Mr Connelly visit the block and leport tha names of the persons to the Board. Messrs Strode and Fraser applied to pur* chase section 3, block 10, Lea- ing Rock, he'd under agricultural lease (referred to Government) ; J. E Buchanan, section 12, block 3 ) uap.-ka West (approved); James Rae, section 46. block 4, Orookston (approved) - J mes Bennett, section 33. Block 4, Crookston (approved); Gellibraud and Smith, section 1, block 13, and section 12, Strath Taieri (approved). It. was decided that .notice be given ■ cautioning parties against occupying Crown lands illegally, and without authority. The notice to be i sorted in the ‘ Gazette ’ and all • the local papers.
