THE EDUCATION BOARD.
The adjourned meeting of the Education Board was held to-day at the Government Buildings. The Superintendent and Messrs Reid, Stout, and Mackellar were present.
The Secretary reported that the Board of Advice had very carefully gone over the applications for the English Mastership and for the appointment of French Visiting Master, and had adjourned their meeting to Monday, the 4r.h of January, when it was expected a decision would be arrived at as to the parties to be recommended to the Education Board.
It was resolved—That Mr Petrie, Inspector of Schools, be requested to take charge of the classical department of the Boys’ High School until the new Rector’s expected arrival in March, 1873, and to co-operate with Mr Brent in reorganising the school in accordance with the recommendations of the Board of Advice ; and that the Secretary be instructed to advertise the re-opening of the High School on the 2nd February as usual. The Board then adjourned,
