PROSPECTUS. PROSPECTUS OF THE ALBION BEE WING AND MALTING COMPANY (Limited), DUNEDIN. Capital £40,000, In 40;000 Shares of £1 each. Eight per cent, guaranteed. Two Shillings and Sixpence to be paid on Application; Two Shillings and Sixpence on Allotment; and Five Shillings per Share on the Ist June, 1875; Five Shillings on. the Ist August; and Five Shillings on the Ist October. T H n™lYAx£ E^H Nr) distillery COMPANY having entered into an Agreement with the Government of New Zealr n( o«? 1 a T andon the Iciness of Distillation on the doth -Tune, 1875, are now prepared to offer to the public their Premises and Plant, for the purpose of establishing a Brewjry and carrying on their present large Malting business (for which they are admirably adapted) on terms which it will be ad mitted, on consideration of the following x articulars, are of the most advantageous character, viz.:— *Phe Freehold Property comprises two full acres of land, in a b'oek having frontages to Cumberland and Castle streets. The Buildings, built of brick and stone, with slated roofs, are of a most substantial character. Plant (the greater portion of which is suitable for a Brewery and Malting Establishment) is complete and perfect in every respect—the only addition required for a Brewery being a Cellar winch can he erected for about L 2,000. With this and some trifling alterations, the Plant will be available for Brewing purposes within a month or six weeks from the date at which the Distillery Company are required by law to cease operations. Malt Floors and Kilns.—There are on the property two Malt Floors and Kilns capable o turning out from 1,000 to 1,200 bushels of malt pei week ; and from the advantageous position of the work, having a 'rontage to the Bay, and receiving the benefit of the cool draughts of air which continually proceed therefrom, Maltha can be carried on all the year round, which is quite an exceptional thing, even in the Old Country. Ihe Malt from this establishment has always commanded the highest price of auv produced in New Zealand ; and the supply for some time hack has been inadequate to the demand. The Beer prodneed from this Malt is of the very best quality. The profits from this branch of the business may be expected to be of a very substantial character, as during the past year, even with the limited amount of Malt available for sale, they exceeded L 2,500. And as there would be a large quantity to dispose of in connection with a Brewery, the yearly profits would he proportionately increased. The capabilities of the Premises and Plant for the purposes of a Brewery have been carefully examined and estimated by a competent authority (a gentleman who built some of the largest Breweries in the neighborhood of Edinburgh), who states that from 400 to 500 ho-nj-of Beer could be made per week when the trade required it, which is greatly in excess c .v .i. : , ; ILL cAct of the quantity which can be turned out by ai other Brewery in New Zealand. This cap bihty to produce so much more Beer at vej little extra cost of management must alwa' give the Albion Brewery Company a great a' vantage over other Brewing Establishment and as the trade is increasing greatly here ar being opened up with the neighboring Color of New South Wales and Fiji, no doubt tl full power of the Company’s Works wou very shortly be called into operation. Water Supply.—The Distillery Company, considerable expense, constructed a coven Brick and Cement Reservoir on Mr Lo°ai property, next the Town Belt, and laid pip°es the Distillery, thus obtaining a private supp of the best water in the District, free fro every impurity, for the purposes of steepii Malt, Distilling, or Brewing. Cottages.—On the Property are three ( substantial four-roomed Cottages, for the use the Principal Employes of the Company, w] require to reside on the Premises. Value of Land, &c.—The Land, Building and Plant of the Distillery Company we valued tby Messrs Blair and M ‘Gregor or a oCjd Public company, D 27,450. Since then land in the neighborhoi has been sold considerably in excess of tht estimate; and there can be no doubt that in' very few years this property will double i present value, contiguous as it is to the Ra way Terminus, Jetties, and other importa lines of traffic. A short siding, of about thir yards m length, will enable the Company place their goods on the railway cars, thi saving a large yearly expenditure in cartage. Price of Property.—The present proprieto require tor the Land. Buildings, and Plant cor plete (including the private water supply) tl sum of L 30.000, cut of which they will pay e the preliminary expenses of floating the Coe pany; imdso confident are they of the succe of the business, that they are willing to tal paid up shares to the value of L 15.000 as pa payment of the purchase-money, and will fu ther guarantee 8 per cent, on the paid-up car u •*’ wo y ears * r . om the commencement i the business, and will give good andsufficiei security for the due payment of this guaranty interest—such security to be lodged in tl bauds of any Trustees the Directors may a point. They feel perfectly secure in uudertal mg this prospective liability, from the fact thi the profit on the mailt alone should pay over ] per cent, on the paid-u capital. As to tl profits of breweries all over the world, it is n« necessary here to dilate: they are known to I large, and to compare favorably with any othi business that can be named. Capital. —When the shares are all dispose ot, there will, after purchasing the property, 1 ample funds to make the alterations befoj alluded to, and to carry on the business, as tl: sale and returns from beer are almost immediab o tan. —1 here is at present in the employ of the Distillery Company a complel stan or competent experts, whose services ai at the disposal of the Brewing and Maltin Company. Ihe present manager (than whoi a more competent man is not to be found i these Colonies) is willing to undertake th management of the new concern ; and the Con panys experienced traveller (whose qualifici tions are well known) is also open to ment,

Quality of Beer. It will be the datwraiination of the Albion Brewing send out nothing but the best quality of beer, and j us secure a lasting and constantly increasing demand for their brand. The sole reason the present favorable opportnnity is offered to the public for investing their capital to such advantage, is that the present proprietors of the property desire to retire for a tune from the active management of business. They are thoroughly confident that, under proper management, no business in the Colony w! 11 yield a better return than that of the Albion Brewing and Malting Company (Limited), when once fairly established. Insurance has been effected on the buildings and plant to the extent of L 20,000. This prospectus is thus early laid before the abhc, to enable the new Company to get their ellar erected, make the necessary alterations, arrange barley contracts, manufacture malt, and have everything in readiness to commence operations as soon after obtaining possession of the premises as possible. The Distillery Company hope to have manufactured the maximum quantity of spirits allowed in their contract with the Government about the end of April in which case they will at once hand over the pioperty to the Albion Company, and so enable them to commence operations before the date above-named. , Applications for shares to be sent to MESSES WEBB & PULTON, Dunedin.
