SAILED. December 19.—Cezarewitch, barque, 418 tons, Mair. for Port Esperance. Edith Reid, ketch, Munroe, for the Molyneux. TRIAL TRIP OF THE EQMONT. The new steamer Egmont made a trial trip this afternoon, under the charge of Captain Deucrasg. She made the run from Dunedin to Port Chalmers Jetty in one hour five minutes, against a strong head wind. She was full of visitors, and a brass band accompanied her. THE MAORI’S CRUISE. The s.s. Maori left Port Chalmers at 8 p.m. on December 5, called at Northern ports, arriving on the West Coast on the 10th ; next day left Westport for Hokitika, which was reached at 11 p.mp.; left at 11 a.m. on the 12th, arriving at Greymouth at 1.30 p.m. the same day ; left on the 13th, and next day anchored at Jackson’s Bay; thence, after a short stay, proceeded to Big Bay, passing the Cascade Falls en route; and at 8 p.m. anchored in Martin's Bay. On the loth landed stores and took passengers on board, leaving the Bay at 5 p.m. ; proceeded up Milford Sound, and anchored in Fresh Water Basin till about next day; next proceeded to Anila Bay, and stayed there a few hours, afterwards putting into Dees Bay and Thomson’s Sound. Left at 4 a.m. on the 17th, and at 1 p.m. anchored in Preservation Sound. Had a few hours’ stay, and proceeded to the Bluff, arriving there at 7 a.m. on the 18th, having had strong head winds from the Sound. Arrived alongside the Rattray street wharf at 12.30 p.m. to-day, having experienced strong head winds during the run from the Bluff.
