MAILS CLOSE. Per s.s. Phoebe, on Saturday, December 19, as under;— Ports of New Zealand, America, West Indies, United Kingdom, and Continent of Europe, &c., via San Francisco, at 1.30 p.m. Late letters, with one additional single rate per letter, may be posted till 2 p.m. For issue of money orders and postage of registered letters and newspapers, at 11.30 a.m. There will be a mail despatched from this office for Martin’s Bay on Monday, 28th inst., at 6 a.m. The steamer Claud Hamilton is expected to leave Hokitika at 7 30 p.m. on Saturday, the 19th inst. Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe, via Java cable, will be received at the Telegraph Office, Dunedin, for transmission to Hokitika, up till 5,30 o'clock p.m. on Friday. ARCH.
