VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

There was a poor attendance at the Rifle Association’s meeting last night. The balancesheet showed a credit of 16s 2d. The following office-bearers were apointe lCaptain Stavely, President ; Captains Copeland and Wales, Vice-Presidents ; Captain Goldie, Lieutenants Pell, Marshall, and Muir, Sergeants Lambert and Tresseder, and Volunteers Nightingale and Dobbie, Council of Association. Watkouaiti, December 16. The Waikouaiti Hides fired for C.denial Representatives to-day. The morning was bad, but the weather cleared towards noon, and at 12 o’clock the firing commenced. The scoring at the first two ranges was At 200 yards, Capt. Orbed, 27 ; Sergeant Sutherland, 23. At 400 yards, Capt. Orbell, 21; Sergeant Sutherland, 18. As it was raining and blowing hard, the firing at the last two ranges was stopped till to-morrow. Major Atkinson will not, therefore, be able to superintend the Artillery Company till Friday.
