PORT CHALMERS TOWN COUNCIL.
The fortnightly meeting of this body last was attended by the Mayor and all tbe Councillors. A good deal of business was done, but we have only room in tonight s issue far the following : The opening of tenders for constructing waterworks occasioned a short discussion, no estimate having been received from the En gin er as to probable coat. The tenders were subsequently opened, and read as follows W. P. Pearce, L 7,897 5a 9d ; A. and T. Burt, 1,8,350; Hector Reid, L 9,781 10s Idand A. Morrison and Co., L 9.347 17s 6d’ 1 hey were referred to the Water Committee to report upon on Monday next. A conversation ensued regarding the inconvenient hours at which the morning trains were despatched from port. It was suggested that m making up the time-table for next month the convenience of port residents and ships masters should have a little attention at the hands cf those entrusted with this matter.
