Ho said that they were given to him by his sister three months ago. On searching him witness lound the pawn tickets produced. The two diamond studs produced were obtained from the Ballarat pawn office.—John Samuels manager of the Ballarat Pawn Office, said that accused came to him on the evening of the IG’h instant, and offi red in pledge the two diamond studs p oduccd. Witness advanced him 30s upon them. He subscquently handed them to the police,— SubInspector Mallard pointed out that Pr Carr

was on a tour through the Province, and tint he would probably be in town before next Saturday. He therefore asked lor an adjournment till that day. —Accused was romandel accordingly, to be admitted to bail, himself in the sum of L4O, aud two sureties of L2O each
