There were ten entries, but Voltaire, Bairn, and lambourini were scratched. ° ' Parawhenua took the lead from the start, Kemnant second. Guy Fawkes third, Ngaro fourth, and Princess Mary last. Parawhenua increased his lead by another length, and won, Remnant second, Princess Mary third. Time, 2min. 40sec. Handicap Hurdle Pace of 75 sovs; two miles. Over seven flights of hurdles. Monarch was scratched. This event was a girt to Tommy Dodd, who took every hurdle well, and proved himself a better juniper and galloper than New Zealander. Time, 4min, d4mhi, Wellington Derby of 100 sovs. Une mile and a-half. There were seven entries, hut Voltaire, denary, and Rangi were scratched. Betting : 5 to 4 on Ngaro. After several false starts Ngaro went off with the lead, Remnant second, Guy I awkes third, Manakaianot moving till a hundred yards had been gone. Manakaia tinned rusty after half-a-mile, and was pulled up, Ngaro kept the lead, Remnant ami Guy running neck and neck. The positions were maintained until the straight run home, when JNgaio won by a length, Guy taking second place m front of Remnant, who appeared to be held. Time, 2min, 55sec. The name of the horse which won the Maiden Plate on the first day was Lough Ne;v«h, uot Lough Reagh. _ He was bred by Mr Ballance, of Wanganui, who {sohl him just before the races to Dan O’Brien, owner of Tambouriui for L3OO. ’ [rfent 1.20 p.m., received 8.5 p.m.] [Our telegrams of the above races sent on Saturday averaged six hours twenty-one minutes in transmission.]
