StR.—A. report has been circulat d in this town that our community have discharged tneir minister in a manner which was not in accordance with justice to that genth-m .n On mq nry I fin i that it is the Rev. Mr Lyy tliat has spread that rumor. I have iu juatification of our congregation, to assure our Christian friends that the following are the actual tfacts First, the salary of Mr Levy was not LISO per annum but L2OO and perquisites, which have always amounted t. over L2o; secondly, the statement that he was discharged without means is also in. correct ; he received a cheque for 1.60. for which he had only done a fortnight’s duty. Ihirdly, the statement that his congregation would not assist him is not comet. It was only last week a purse of Ll7 was made up for him, which he indignantly refused, con-suit-ring the amount insufficient. The fact of In* being summarily discharged without a dissentient voic • in the whole congregation proves, without further comment, the sc m, dalQiis manner in which the so-called rev gentleman conducted him elf in carrying out the sacred duties whic . he shoul t have peroimed with satisfaction to the congregation and honor to himself.—i am, Vc , -n .
