WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Board was held this morning ; pn sent—the Chid Commissioner, Messrs Butter worth, Clark, Reid, and Strode. Messrs Gillies and Street, for Mr Peter Dunbar, applied for a license to occupy part of the village reserve, Waitnki (being parts of sections 5, 6, and 7, block 8, Pa- akaio), for grazing purposes, in connection with his hotel. Declined. Messrs Stewart and Doughty asked that a survey of a road line, through section 29, block 7, Akatore, be executed, in order that the rest of the section may be sold. As the sale misiht interfere with the settlers getting bush, the application was declined. An application by Mr William Moss to purchase lection 52, block 19, Tuapeka East, was deferred for survey of the whole block. Ranger Hughan reported on the state of the Popotunoa, Wairuna. and Merrie Creek bushes, held under lease by Mr T. Pollock. It was stated that tbe bush was in a very unsatisfactory state ; that the young trees planted ly Mr Pollock were not properly attended to. and that those that died were not replaced by others. Mr Pollock said tbr. trees were destroyed by frost, and referred to the difficulty of growing blue-gums. He thou ht tbe Government should give some assistance in growing Engl sh trees. The Ranger’s letter was referred to Mr Pollock for explanation on the points touched upon in it. Mr Fry’s application to purchase five acre 3 of the bush reserve, section 60. block 5, Hawksbury, to complete his property, was refused. Messrs Smith and Anderson, for Mr M. Dver, applied ? o purchase sections 122 and 123, Vock 1 ; sections 45 to 51, and 60, block 2; section—, block 22, Sbotover, held under exchanged lease on deferred payments at Ll an acre. Referred to the District Warden for report. Wm. M‘lndoe’s application for a license for irrigation purposes in block 2. Tiger Hill, was granted, “as far as it can be recorded on the maps ; and if it cannot, to be surveyed by the applicant,” Warden Simpson reported on W. W. Goodall's application on section 1, block 5, Lower Hawea, on deferred payments, objecting to tbe survey as executed. John Sellars’ application to have the lease of his sections 17, 18, 19, block 3, Benger, exchanged for one under the Act of 1872, was granted. Miners at Naseby petitioned that sections 144 and 147 to 151 inclusive, should be withdrawn from sale, the land being wanted for mining purpeses. It was stated that the ground had already been reserved. The following plans of applications for unsurveyed land were approved: Thomas Fraser, sections 4 and 2, block 3, Toitois ; James Maben, section 41. block 2 and section 240. block 6, Wyi-dham ; J, and J. M'Kechan. section 51, block 4. and section 32, block 6, do ; C. C. Kettle, section 29, block 4, Tortois.
