Commercial.

The amount of revenue received at the Ous tom-nouse on cleared for consumption this day was L 1,790 13s 6d. The following telegram is from the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, dated London, November 18“ The wool sales opened at the level of the last sale. They comprise about 88,000 bales, of which 7,000 bales have been sent to the manufacturing districts direct. For Cape of Good Hope scoured the market is easier.” Messrs Maclean Brothers report far week ending November 26 as follows : Fat Cattle.—About 130 head were penned at the weekly market on Wednesday, the greater portion being only medium quality. The prices realised showed a considerable decline on late rates. About 60 head were turned out, the balance realising up to Ll4 for bullocks and to LI 5 for cows. Our sales consisted of 40 head on account of vendors. We quote real prime beef 35s to 37s Gd per lOOlbs ; medium and inferior, 27s 6d to 30s. Fat Sheep.—About 900 of all sorts were penned, which were taken by the trade at—for crossbreds in the wool, 25s to 27s each ; do shorn, 15s to 16s ; merinos in wool, 13s 9d. Our sales consisted of 100 at above quotations and 500 privately, for forward delivery. We quote prime quality crossbred mutton, in the wool, 4d to 4Jtd per lb; ditto merino, 3M to 4d. Fat Calves. --None forward.

Fat Lambs.—About 150 were penned, ami were taken by the trade at from 7s to 10= each.

Store Cattle.— is still a good demand for stores of all descriptions, more especially well grown bullocks and heifers. We beg to call the particular attention of graziers, dealers, and others to our sale at Crawford’s yards, Palmerston, on Friday next, the 27th instant; when we will offer, in lots to suit the purchasers, 250 head really good store cattle, comprisin'' speyed cows, steers, and heifers, all over two years old. We quote good well grown bullocks, Lo 10s to L 6 10s ; do cows, L 3 10s to L 5 10s. Store Sheep.—No transactions to report. Imported Stock,—On Monday last, the 23rd instant, we held a sale of pure Lincoln ewes and lambs, at our rooms, Manse street. There was a large attendance of buyers and others, For the ewes the bidding was spirited, and the whole lot was sold. The rams did not attract much attention, only a few being disposed of, the balance being passed. The following is a list of those sold, viz.;—l 2-tooth Lincoln ewe, o2 guineas, Mr James Allen ; 1 do do, 40 do, Mr W. Hay; Ido do, 41 do, Mr J. Allen; 1 do do, 41 do, Mr J. Allen ; Ido do, 41 do, Mr W. Hay Ido do, 43 do, Mr J, Allen; Ido do, 36 do, Mr W. Hecklar: 1 do do, 37 do, Mr W Hecklar; Ido do, 37 do. Mr W. Hay ;1 do do, 37 do, Mr James Allen ; 1 2-tooth Lincoln ram, 74 do, Mr James Allen ; 1 do do, 56 do, the Hon. H. R. Russell; Ido do, 48 do, Mr W Hecklar; 1 do do, 50 do, the Hon. H. R. Russell.

Wool and Sheepskins.—At our last Friday’s sale we catalogued a large number of sheepshms, which realised up to 7s each for green half-breds ;do merinos, to L 5 10s ; dry station skins, from 2s 6d to 4s 6d.

Hides, &c - We catalogued 80 light weights winch were disposed of at from 16s to 22s fid each ; yearlings, Gs each. Calfskins, Is 3d to 2s 3d each. We also sold a small parcel of tallow at L 23. Grain, &c. We have no alteration to make on last week’s quotations, viz. Prime samples wheat, 5s fid to 5s 9 ; medium, 4s fid to 4s 9d • malting samples barley, os 3d to 5s fid; medium. 4s fid to os ; oats, very scarce at 5s fid to (is for nulling samples ; good feed, 5s 3d to 5s fid We have sold during the week 180 sacks barley at above quotations. Tartaric acid, 2s 4d. the Galateas cargo of maize sold at a shade under 5s There is a good demand for teas; o’non Packages sold privately at Is Id to Is 2d. 2,000 cases castor oil sold at 3s lOd to 4s, in rond. The total arrivals amount to more than 80,000 bales. Upwards of 5 500 bales have been offered. The Cape of Good Hope wool preponderated. The Home buyers were more numerous than those from foreign countries. The bidding commenced with great spirit, and prices ranged about the same as at last series. Wheat firmer, Australian being worth 49s to 51s per quarter. A telegram, dated the 18th, says the competition at the opening sales was well maintained.
