Sir,—l was surprised la§t night to learn from a friend that I had been made the siib« ]tct of a paragraph in the Kvening Star. lor the ;ake of the very few among your readers who may be supposed to feel any interest in the matter, will you aUow me to explain that there is, I believe, no probability of my leaving Otago at present. The committee of the Ohurch of England Grammar bchool sent home instructions to their agents three muclis ago to elect a bead master in England. It is not three weeks since 1 first heard that the post was hke yto be vacant. It is not likely that the committee will pay me the extraordinary compliment of telegraphing to r, send the rnstructnms given to tne agents for the sake of offering me the appointment. —I am, do r, ~ G. 8.
