BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.
[From our own Correspondent.) Arrow, November 5. An unseemly scramble has taken place in regard to occupying waste lands. One man illegally fenced 700 acres at Crown Terrace, whereupon the sheepists-broke the fence and swamped the country with sheep. There will be a great loss of revenue —LSOO at least—if a Ranger is not at once appointed. Action by the Government is imperative. The Arrow River Company has ceased pumping, owing to their ground being flooded. The Rip and Tear claim has knocked off, owing to the ground being unremunerative ; as has also the Extensive Tunnel claim at Brackens. The Sons of Fortune Company has commenced tunnelling. Auckland, November 5. The inhabitants of Onehunga last night presented Mr O’Rorke with a valuable service of plate as an acknowledgment of his disinterested action in retiring from the Ministry. In responding, Wr O’Roike said the step was not taken hurriedly or on the impulse of the moment, but after a mature consideration.
