Wellington, November 2. Tho valuation of the City property for the present year gives a ratable value of L 127,261, as against L 87,326 for last year. Two sections on the reclaimed land were sold to-day for L6OO, showing a profit of over L4OO. They are only leasehold, aud measure 85ft. by 35ft. each. 3 . _ November 3. The Victorian Insurance Company as refused to pay the sum of LI,OOO, for which the steamer Paterson was insured in that office. The South British, New Zealand, and National Companies have paid their losses— L 4,000 in all. Mr George Donne is the successful tenderer for the privilege of advertising on the following lines ; —Auckland to Mercer, Nelson to Foxiiill, Picton to Blenheim, and Brunner to Greymouth. Auckland, November 2. The City of Melbourne, from San Francisco, will not call at Auckland this trip.
