IS IT ANYBODY’S BUSINESS?

To the Editor. Sir. - Having purchase! some sausages on Saturday evening last, and they being in a putrid state, I took them to the Inspector of Markets, who told me he had not any authority to act in the matter, and referred me to the Inspector under tbe Adulteration of Food Act, who also stated it was no part of his duty. May I request you will be pleased to inform me who is the proper authority to apply to for redress ?—1 am, &c.. The iUFFEREK, Dunedin, October 28. [Food in any stage of putrefaction cannot be considered adulterated. We, therefore, think it was the duty of the Ins-pec or of Markets to have acted in the matter.— Ed. B. B.]
