MEMBERS OUT OF PARLIAMENT.

Mr Murray, member for Brace, addressed bis constituents at Milton on Friday evening. The attendance was rather limited. In concluding a characteristic speech, Mr Murray said that while he censured the Government where blame was deserved, yet he felt bound to testify to the zeal with which they endeavored to do their duty, and to the courteous manner with which they had, both during the session and since, given their attention to any matter affecting the interests of this district and of the Colony, which he had brought before them. He had just received this telegram :—“ W. A, Murray, I'sq.. M.H.8., Glenore, Tokomairiro. In y° ur letter of Ist, Engineer-in-Chief states that the contract time for the completion of railway from Pun‘din to Clutha is Ist September, 1875 ; that probably it will be finished some weeks sooner, but as this depends upon the contractor I cannot give any further pledge than that the Government will make every effort to give the public the use of the line as soon as possible.— h d ward High arcs on.” —He felt sure, from what Mr Richardson had said when he met him in returning from the Noith, that the Government would not permit this Province to suffer from the want of the “down the river” and Kaitaugata coal railways, the importance of which he believed tho Government fully recognised On the motion of < 'aptain Johnston, seconded by Mr Robert Murray, a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Murray for his address and public services, and entire confidence in him as their member, was earned unanimously.
