MAILS CLOSE. Southland.—Per Comerang, on Tuesday, October 27, at 10 a.m. Northern Ports ®f New Zealand —Per Ladybiro, on Tuesday, October 27, at 2 p.tn. Tiixari; and Akaroa. —Ter Bruce, on Tuesday, October 27, at 2 p.m. Per s.s. Tararua, on Wednesday, October 28, as under : Direct mails for India, China, Japan, Penang, Singapore, Manilla, Aden, Mauritius, the British, French, and Austrian Post Offices at Alexandria, Malta, Gibraltar, Brindisi. France, &c., at 12 noon. For New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania, at 1 p.m. For Southland, Victoria, London via Southampton, and via Brindisi, and for correspondence for the Continent of Europe, &c,, sent in London mails, at 1 3d p.m. For issue of money orders and posting of registered letters and newspapers, at 11.30 a. in. Late letters, with one additional single rate per letter, may be posted as follows : For New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania, at 1.30 p.m. For Southland, Victoria, London, via Southampton and via Brindisi, and for correspondence for the Continent of Europe, &c., sent in London mails, at 2 p. ra. N.B.—Correspondence for the United Kingdom, &c., intended for transmission by this mail must be specially, addressed via Suez. A mail will be despatched from this office for Martin's Bay on the 2Gth inst. Notice. —The steamer Albion is expected to leave Hokitika at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, the 27th inst. Telegrams for the Australian Colonies or Europe, via Java cable, will be received at this Office for transmission to Hokitika up till 8 o'clock p.m. to-day. ARCH. BARR. Chief Postmaster.
