DRAPERY. GREAT SOCIAL CHANGES Have taken place in the Commercial History of Dunedin. The following excellent recommendation is that they keep the Beat Mika that are made, that are warranted to wear by the manufacturers, Soper and Son, Spitalfields, and Bonnet et Cie, 1 yens! Prices vary from 3s fid to 14s per yard SILKS— The greatest choice is here of Colored and Fancy Silk I tresses; and the greatest praise is that they are good and cheap. They have got upward> of fifty shades of Plain and Colored Grosgrains and Glaces. Same variety of Selfcolored Corded Si;k, from 14 15s upwards; Fancy -Striped do, from 59a : Figured and Broche do, from 80s : Weddmg Silks, from 70s to 120s. IRISH POPLINS— As this very beautiful and durable Dress is increasing in popularity, they have imported direct from Dublin a larger stock than usual. MANTLES— This department is famed for Mantles, Jackets, Polonaises, and Capes. The bargains given season after season have created universal surprise. They are now showing the latest designs in Manillas, Capes, and Cuirasses. French Models copied at half-price. 1 Any style made to order. Fit faultless, by Miss Cameron. UNDERCLOTHING— On the merits of this department it xnay be truly said that they supply Chemises, Gowns, 1 etticoats, Drawers, • Bodies, &c., &c , at less price than the materials could be procured at in Dunedin. MILLINERY— Grand Display of Millinery. New Parisian Bonnets, some very beautiful designs. New Bridal Bonnets, Mourning Bonnets. Great Novelties in Trimmed Hats The largest stock yet Been of Infants’, Boys’, and Girls’ Hats, all prices, qualities, and styles. Trimmed and Untrimmed Ladies’ Leghorn Bats, and every make of Straws in all the fashionable shapes, from 9d Upwards. DRESSES— A splendid collection of New Spring Dresses, comprising Homespuns, Berges, Alpacas, Summer Twills, Spring Serges, Japanese, Mikado, and Ashantee Fabrics. The latest novelty is the Royal Russian Sexture, satin striped, of great beauty and durability, in fifty different colors. Can only be obtained at this house, at Is 6d and 2s per yard.
WARNINGS THAT MAY BE HEEDED. PRINTS— The great evil of the day is Prints. Cambrics, Brilliants, and Piques, that do not wash. This can be avoided by purchasing here, as they import only Hoyle’s, Crum’s, and Koenig’s Goods—wai ranted fast colors. These names are a sure guarantee that the colors are perfection. FLANNELS— Another growing evil in the trade is remedied in this department. K., G., and Co., do not keep that useless make of Flannel mixed with Cotton, and sold at 114 and Is Id per yard, but fer little more money they i>ive the best All-wool Real Welsh and Pure Saxony Flannels, warranted not to shrink in the washing. CARPETS— An Important Department in their Business. The best description of Brutsels, Tapestry, Kidderminster. Scotch, and Pelts only kept. Prices very moderate. FACTS FAIRLY AND FULLY STATED. READY-MADE-That in this branch of their business the ktock of Men’s and Boy’s Clothing from Melbourne, Bristol, London, and notably from their own Factory, is by far the Best and Cheapest in the Colony. 1 n addition to the Regular Assortment, they have opened out during the week Ti-fIRTI MORE CASES, Thus offering the Largest Choice of GOOD CLOTHING IN THIS MARKET. TAILORING— This Department is tinder the management of a really First-class Cutter of acquired taste,- hence a good and stylish ht can be depended 6n, While the charges will be found much more moderate than those of any other Tailoring Firms, in consequence of Small Profits being the guiding principle of KIRKPATRICK, GLKNDINING, & CO.
