[By Telegraph.] We are indebted to the kindness of a passenger for the following : Akaroa, October 13. The full force of a southerly gale met us butt end just about eight miles from Lyttelton. We managed to make Little Akaroa Bay and held on with both anchors down till midnight. The weather then moderated and we made another start and reached Akaioa at 9 o’clock. It took us three hours doing the last five miles. The Taranaki passed us at 6 o’clock. At 11 o’clock yesterday the barometer was lower than 'Captain Fairchild had seen it for seven years. It is now (11 a.m.) blowing a hurricane and no sign of any change for the better. The sea at Akaroa Heads is breaking across the entrance like a bar.
