FATAL ACCIDENT AT STONEY CREEK.
Pn Saturday last a waggoner named Andrew Bain, residing at Pour-mile Creek, near Balclu-ha, met his death at Stoney Cn-ek. Deceased, accompanied by his nejnew, a :ad ii'uned Jackson, was travelling usual with a waggon load of goo'a to Balclutha. At or about nm>n, the weather hvinz wet, the bov took dinner by himself under the protection of the waggon tilt, a.id having finished the meal, got down to keep an eye on the team and allow Bain to get lus dinner. Tbe boy states that, suspecting nothing wrong, he walked alongside the horses a good distance before looking round, when wishing to say something to deceased, he locked up under the waggou tilt and could see no one, but found him lying ou the road -ome distance behind. He at once gave the alarm, but the man dieel before assistance arrived. At the inquest it ti anspired that Bain had been suffering from cramp in his stomach, and it is believed he fell off the waggon in a fit. He leaves a wife, who is a cripple, and four children.
