THE ANGLICAN SYNOD.
The session of the Synod was brought to a close yesterday. Mr Gibbs moved a motion to give effect to a resolution passed at the last meeting of the Synod to form the late Province ,of southland a rural deanery, which, after some discussion, was carried. TheVen. Archdeacon Edwards moved a resolution which affirmed that the Synod failed to recognise the right of the Christchurch Synod to have the matter of Messrs Sewell and Ph irazin’s grants referred to it • and asking £ the two sums of LSOO, given by those gentlemen for the benefit of theendowo'ent land of the Dunedin Diocese, had been paid to the Primate. The Archdeacon ment oned that Archdeacon Stock had informed him that the sums named were intended te be giveu to the Dunedin Diocese. Motion carried. The name of the Hon. J. Miller added to the Council of the Theological College, the Rev. R. L. Stanford appointed diocesan BeC i e K fc , ary ’ Hawkins diocesan treasurer, and Mr Leary auditor. Votes of thanks were awarded to Messrs Quick and Hawkins, and to the Rev. R, L. fctanford, after which the President delivered an address. The Synod then repeated the “Gloria,” and the btuiiness was brought te a close.
