This afternoon the gentlemen connected with, the ‘Guardian’ Printing Company met together at Bayley’a Hotel for the purpose of presenting to Mr Creighton a slight testimonial of their regard on the occasion of his retirement from ; that journal to take charge of the ‘ New Zealand limes Every person employed on the Guardian was present, and the presentawon (a most valuable graphosoope) was made *by Mr Richard H. Lear* the legal manager of the company, who, in a neat and appropriate speech, expressed-the general regret which was felt on tile occasion of Mr Cr ichton's retirement,-and proposed his health, which was drank with' great enthusiasm. That gentleman suitably responded, and, after some other toasts had beon proposed and responded to; the proceedings terminated. v ;
