The amount of revenue received at the Ous ton-house on (.coda cleared for consumption this day was L 709 3s Bd.
A fair amount of business was transacted during the week in the main at satisfactory fnces. On Wednesday Messrs M’Landress, Lepburn, and Co. held a sale of ship’s stores, and the balance of the Yarraville sugar. The attendance was large, and the whole found buyers. Amongst other goods, currants realised 4sd; Eleme raisins, s|d; oatmeal, in casks, 17« per cwt. A parcel of 1,000 Oases diamond kerosene was offered, with all faults, but was withdrawn at Is Of the Yarraville sugars there were about 2,500 mats, which were taken at L3O, being an advance of 30s per ton on the previous Bale. Tobacco continues firm, with an upward tendency. Dried fruits have changed hands in quantity during the week at 41d for currants, and s£d to 6d for Eleme raisins. The market is fully stocked with American salmon, and the price has slightly receded. Purchases have been made at 12s. Brandy remains pretty much as last reported. Holders are careless about selling, and buyers are unwilling to submit to the advance. In whisk y, favorite brands are m demand, and command 6s. The stock of ale and porter is equal to requirements, but the demand is improving, and they command ready sale. Candles ate unchanged, and realise last quotations. Mr A. Mercer reports for the week ending September 26:—Retail prices only: Fresh butter, m Jib and lib prints, la 9d to Is lOd per lb; second quality, is 8d per lb; in lumps, I»6d per lb. Prime salt butter, new season Is 6d per lb. > Although the supply of fresli butter is coming in pretty plentifully, there is at present a good demand, otherwise prices would be lower. Cheese still continues very plentiful, and the best quality at lOd per lb Bide and rolled bacon is also in good demand and selling at lid to Is per lb; Colonial hams! Is to Is 2d per lb; English hams, Is 4d to la ud per lb, but not ranch in demand. Eggs ■till continue to come in freely, but, owing to the peat demand, they have risen in price this week to Is 6d per dozen. THE SHARE MARKET. Mr Hooper reports the share market inactive Monev is very scarce, for speculative purposes, ana the market is greatly however, anticipated that with the opening of too Colonial Bank and the settlement of the Watorwork s shares, more money will be put circulation. Melbourne, September 21.—Oats in steady demand at 5s 6d; wheat, 5s 9d. Deals lower. Brandies have sold lower.
