Grahamstown, Sept. 22. Tho engine, battery, and plant, once the property of the famous Shotover Company, were submitted at auction to-day. All sold but the battery. It is expected that the claim will be amalgamated with some neighboring mine.

Letters appear in to-day’s “ Advertiser” from Tarapiptpi and others, stating that the Piako River is closed for the future to the steam launch. The “Advertiser’’ advises the owner of the steamer to proceed on his trip as usual.
