The amount of revenue received at the Cns tom-house on too/ls cleared for consumption thiß day L 402 10s lid. Mr A. H. Maude reports the sale by auction of Blackley Farm, on the North Road, near Redcastle, containing about 82 acres, to Dr Wait, for the sum of LI,700; being about L2O 15s per acre. The state of the tobacco market was the chief feature of the commercial affairs of the week. It has been much inquired after, and has advanced lsd to 2d per lb. Sugar moves off freely at late quotations. The stock of good tws is becoming rapidly reduced, and considerable inquiry has been made for boxes, which are very scarce. No change can be quoted in value. Brandy still remains at last quotations. The state of the market for this article is anomalous. the price in Melbourne being even lower than in London, where the last shipments were made at 9s 4Jd. Dried fruits are in deuand. Currants are, however, still procurable at 4d. Eleme raisins, s|d, and sultanas, 62d. Kerosene is somewhat easier; sales have been made patent nozzle at Is 9d, to land. News has been brought by the Otago, which may still further effect the market Candles continue to command IOJd. Considerable demand has amen for potatoes, in consequence of large purchases for Canterbury; prices are therefore very firm at L 6 lOd to L 7. Messrs M'Landress, Hepburn, and Co. today offered for sale, on behalf of Messrs ConHell and Moodie, the township of Roseneath, situated in the Sawyer s Bay district.
