SONG. With strong libations chares your oum Rut fill this glass of mine * With nectar of the purest grape From off the richest vine. And then, my girl, in silence I will pledge thine orb' of jet With all my heart and all my soul— My raven-haired Brunette. Thou art beautiful, my girl, .As worldly beauty goes, ar * line , d wit “ flowers, But thou rt a modest rose ; By Nature’s chaste and artless Land In love’s own garden set, An emblem rare of purity Mv raven-haired Brunette. I d climb ambition’s highest steep r W * B t^^ne heart from thee ; I know such thoughts are wild and vain. For girl, it may not be. Another claims thee as his own. t Away, then, with regret, I’ll pledge his happiness and thine— My raven-haired Brunette. Hafiz.
