THE 'TIMES' AND THE PREMIER.
To the Editor. SIR, —Like many others, I suppose, I was amazed this morning when I read tbe announcement by the * Daily Times’ that Mr Vogel had gene Home and lift the (Jolcny in the lurch. For my p 4 rt, I don’t believe it ; and if your contemporary, who hazards such a prophecy, should turn out to be wrong, what condemnation, I ask, can equal the offence? I have another que-tiou to put. If a person who successfully speculates ou the probable rise in the price of uneultivated land is entitled to pay or the unearned increment, is unurned incremati m too gtod fur these who prosper, despite their persistent efforts to injure the credit of the Colony. 1 am, Ac., Not Master Humphrey. Dunedin, September 16.
