CITY COUNCIL.
The business to be brought b.fore next Wednesday’s sitting of the City Council is as follows : Cr. Fish will move—“ That, in order to ensure the future permanent works of the City being carried on in a systematic manner, the Surveyor be instrnc ed to prepare without delav a detailed statement of what wor - s are required, to place the City streets, pathways. Ac., in a permanent state ; the works in each Ward being kept separate, and the statement to be accompanied by a detailed estimate of the cost of each work, the cost of kerbing being kept separate.” Or. Barron is to ask— *• if any. and what steps have been taken towards surveying and recor'ding a system *>f permanent street levels binding on the City Council, and £»r any deviation from which they will be responsible?” also to move—‘-That a 1 ,mp be at once placed on the quarry side of the bridge leading from Serpenti- e avenue to Canongate street and that the hand-rail leading to that bridge should be replace t.” Or. Gibson will move—‘-That a lamp be placed at the junction of Forth place and I Dnndas street.”—“ That all that manuka scrub at piesent growing on that portion of the I own Beit between the upper part of horth place and the township of Murrayvil ®be forthwith cleared away.”—“ That a right-(f-way be made from Regent Road to the premises of the inhabitants of Queen and Park streets, in place of a rigbt-a-way closed in Queen street by the City Council for street improvements ”
Cr. Isaac will moy—“ That in the opinion of this < ouncil it is desirable the hour of meeting should be changed to three o’clock in the afternoon, and that of committees to the evening.”
