The Harbor Works deputation, which waited upon the Government to-day, received a written reply from the Minister of Works to the effect that the Government intends to carry out such works as may be necessary for the improvement of the port, and facilitate the shipment of o«aL The additional vote of LIO,OOO taken during last session is to be spent during the next twelve months in carrying out the plans already deemed upon. The Government will give the closest attention to the subject, so that they may be in a position before the next session to ascertain to what extent it will be advisable for them to ask for further grants.
