Samson arrived last evening from Oamaru, and passed up to Dunedin. The steamers Wallabi, for Timaru, and Wanganui, for the Bluff, sailed yesterday. The coasters Maid of Otago, for Moeraki ; Oreti, for Oamaru; and Mermaid, for Waikonaiti, sailed yesterday. The s,s. Beautiful Star arrived from her special trip to Oamaru, and steamed alongside the ship Dunedin to discharge cargo. She left Oamaru at 6 p m. last evening, and arrived at 2 a.m., having had strong N.W. -winds. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Wellington, September 2.— The Melanie, schooner, has cleaved out for Dunedin, with 81,869 ft of timber. c Auckland, September 2. The City of Auckland has arrived from London after a passage of 107 days. She brings thirty passengers, but no immigrants. One child died. The ship experienced terrific weather during the latter part of the passage for four days, and had every sail that was set blown out of her. Westport, September 2. The schooner Dunedin, produce-laden from Dunedin, is ashore at the entrance of the river. The bar is food, but the wind shifting. The wind drove or on the sandbank. Lyttelton, September 3.—The Carrisbrook Castle, 90 days from the Start, arrived last night with 450 immigrants ; all well. There were 25 deaths of children under five years of age, and 5 births.
