ARRIVAL OF THE OTAGO. /-w PoRT Chalmers, August 29. The Otago left Gravesend on the 6th June, and took her final departure off Portland on the Bth. She had moderate weather to the N.E. trades, which were caught on the 17th, in lat. 33.22, and lost on the 25th, in lat. 13.37. Crossed the Equator on 4th July, in long. 28.32; the b.R trades were then caught, and carried to 19.6, on the 11th. Crossed the meridian of Greenwich on the 22ud, and the Cape on the *™b. On the Sth August, a heavy gale from the b.S. W. came on, but moderated next day. On the 11th she met with a severe gale from fc J“ S.W., in long. 122, lat. 44.49. She was then hove-to. The chief officer was washed overboard twice during the gale, but saved, ihe passengers were battened down for twentyfour hours. Made the Snares on the evening of the 26fch, and the Heads yesterday. She brings 354 souls, equal to adults. Wellington, August 28.
