William Park, Eaq. Carl ."tcinhoff, Esq. J. F. Jones, Esq. J. C. Matheson, Esq, Solicitors : Messrs Sievwright and Stout. Bankers: The Colonial Bank of New Zealand. Interim Secretary : Mr Richard H. Leary. It will readily he conceded that one of the greatest wants in the principal cities of New Zealand is first-class hotel accommodation to provide which wi 1 involve a large expenditure, beyond the limits of individual capital. -This Company is formed for the purpose of erecting in Dunedin a first-class Hotel, similar in character to those existing in the large cities of Europe and Ameri'a-oue which will not only supply existing requirements but will offer special attractions and inducements to tourists and travellers to visit this part of New Zealand. It is proposed that the building to he erected shall contain 200 Bedrooms, spacious Dining and Drawing Kooms, Library, Private Rooms for families, and all the neces ary adjuncts of a realy first-class Hotel of the kind indicated. An unexceptionable freehold site has a.rcady been secured at moderate cost. It is estimated that the cost of freehold land and buddings will not exceed L 29.000 and the furniture and fittings LG,OOO, thus «? tiaetotal ou tlay required about l-So.OOO To meet this cost, a paid-up capital of L2U.000 will be sufficient, as the balance can readily be borrowed at a moderate rate of interest on the security of the Land and Buildings. Tile profits realised by the leading hotels in London, Paris, Berlin, St. Petersburg, and America, average 22 per cent, upon the amount of invested capital. From reliable information obtaine d from competent persons the promoters of the Southern Hotel Com’ pany (Limited) are fully persuaded that, under c ireful management, the profi s from this enterprise will provide a very handsome return for the capital subscribed. Exclusive of re.venue derived from the hotel business proper, it is estimated that a considerable income will be received in the way of rent for the principal portion of the ground floor, which would be readily let for kdiops, &c,, and would not be required for hotel purposes. The promoters feel that it is almost superfluous to impress upon the citizens of Dunearn the great advantages which would accrue to their city from the successful development of such an enterprise as the one projected. The increase in the number of visitors to Dunedin would inevitably be accompanied by an increase in the vitality of every department of commerce and trade, and would thereby materially augment the prosperity of all.Jasaes of the community PUBLIC NOTICES.
