Wellington, August 14. -New Zealand Gazette * states that Messrs William Busch, Mayor of Naseby, Matthew Hay, of Lawrence, Benjamin Naylor, Clyde, ami Keith Ramsay, of Dunedin, are appointed Justices of the Peace under the Otago Municipal Corporation Empowering Act. 1865. A ‘ Gazette’ published this afternoon announces the issue of letters of naturalisation to Mr Gustav Ludwig Theodor Von der Heyde, merchant, of Auckland. Christchurch, August 14. The Roman Catholics of Christchurch presented a handsome testimonial to Father Ecuyer last night, on the occasion of his removal from Canterbury. Smith’s Combination Troupe gave r performance last night for the benefit of the widow and orphans of the late Captain Hart, of the steamer Beautiful Star. The house was densely crowded. The barque Joliba is advertised for sale, by Mr C. Aikman, on Monday next.
_ Auckland, August 15. Ine Lyphrenes has arrived from Kandavau to await the arrival of the Tartar and convey ttie inward mails to Sydney. There is no news. The Mikado arrived at Kandavau on the Bth and left for San Francisco on the 10th.
