Maori, s.s., 118 tons, Malcolm, from Lyttelton and intermediate ports. Passengers : Mr and Mrs Floyd, Messrs Sibbald, Sp.ight, tapper, Wood, and six in the steerage. SAILED. Samson sailed for Oamaru this Morning on her usual trip. The Cesarewitch was this morning removed frcm the new pier to the head of the Graving Dock to discharge the rest of her cargo of timber. The Harbor Company’s s.s. Maori arrived in Port Chalmers at 7 a.m. to-day from Lyttelton and intermediate ports. She left Lyttelton at 4 p.m. on the 12th, called at Akaroa and Timaru, at which latter port she shipped 560 sacks of wheat for the ship Dunedin, and sailed for Port Chalmers at 7 p.m. yesterday, and arrived as above. The s.s. Easby, as we announced yesterday, arrived at the Heads, and steamed up to a berth alongside the hulks. She came up with the flood tide, and when coming in to moor at the hulks the tide was so powerful at her stern that when her bow got into still water she became unmanageable and ran stem on against the broadside of the s.s. Wellington, smashing one of her beats to pieces. There was not, however, much damage done te either vessel. The Easby steamed from Port Chalmers to Newcastle in six days four hours, and during that time had stiff head winds for forty-eight hours. She loaded partly at Newcastle, and then steamed to Sydney for the remainder; took in her cargo there, and sailed on the sth, end made the passage to the Heads in seven days eight hours. We thank Captain Shand forpapers and report. The s.s. Alhambra, from Melbourne, via the West Coast and Northern Ports, arrived at Port Chalmers this morning at 7.15 o’clock. She left Hobson's Bay at 1.30 p.m. on the Ist August; passed Wilson’s Promontory at 5 a.n., and the Sisters at 2 p.m. on the 2nd ; had then S.S.E. winds for the most part of the passage across, together with fine weather. Arrived off Hokitika at 7 a.m. on the 7th, and Remained there until 5 p.m., expecting to be tendered; but finding none come off, she then left for Greymouth, where she landed her passengers. Called at Nelson, Wellington, and Lyttelton. She left the latter port at 6 p.m. on the 10th for Timaru, arriving there at 8.30 a.m. on the 13th, where she took in 760 bags of wheat for transhipment to the ship Dunedin, lying ftt Port Chalmers; left again at 7.30 p.m., and arrived as above.
