The umonnt of revenue received at the Cus tjar-house on cleared for consumption was this day L 1,074 1s 7d; revenue for the month, L 38.257 18s 2d.
A. Mercer reports for the week ending July 31Retail prices only: Fresh butter any thing like passable, 2s per lb, and very scarce. This week particularly there has been a great falling of, and the grocers, in many instances, have to send their customers half the quantity ordered. Salt butter, on that account, is selling well at Is 6d to Is 8d per lb. Cheese, best quality, lOd to Is per lb, and the market is yet well supplied. Bide and rolled bacon, lOd to' Is per lb ; beef ham, 7d to 8d; and boiled ham, 9d per lb. Colonial hams. Is to Is 2d per lb; English hams, Is 4d to Is 6d per lb, but very slow of sale. Eggs continue to be scarce, and are still selling at 2s 6d per dozen.
