THE DIVINING ROD.
To the Editor. Sib, —Headers curious on such subjects may be interested to learn that the divining rod is being discussed in some of the London periodicals. From Spiritualistic literature it has passed into the columns of the ‘English Mechanic and World of Science.’ The number of that paper for 3rd April last contains a curious account of it by the investigator, which, if reliable, .demonstrates that the power at work is the X force of the table, planchette, and pencil. By this method it would appear that the occult agency may be studied at any fireside in its varied eccentricities, as if seen under a magnifying power of many diameters, the essential requirements being merely tbe presence of tWo persons to take part (one a , medium), an alphabet card, and a good . light.—l am, &c., Alexis. Dunedin, July 31.
