The s.s. Albion sailed for Melbourne via the North at 1.30 o’clock this afternoon. The schooners Wanganui, for Oamaru, and Excelsior; for Napier, sailed yesterday. The ship Buckinghamshire, for San Francisco, was towed to sea yesterday afternoon by the tug Geelong. The R.M.S.S. Cyphrenes sailed yesterday afternoon, with the Dunedin portion of the San Francisco maiL The topsail schooner Clio, from Wangapoa with a cargo of timber, arrived this morning, and passed the Port with a fine breeze to Dun•din. The steamers Wanganui, for the Bluff; Wallabi, for Timaru; Maori, for Lyttelton and intermediate ports; and Lady of the Lake, for the Molyneux, sailed last evening. The ketch Glimpse arrived at ten o’clock this morning with a cargo of stone from Moeraki. having left at 8 o’clock this morning. Had strong N.W. winds along the coast. The Harbor Company’s s.s. Beautiful Star arrived from Lyttelton via Timaru at daylight this morning, and steamed alongside the ship Dunedin to discharge 1,047 bags of grain. She left Lyttelton on the 27th, and arrived at Timaru at 10 a.m. on Tuesday; took in the remainder of her cargo, and left for Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon, having had strong winds with heavy sea to arrival as above. Messrs Patrick Hendersons and Co.’s fine new iron ship Dunedin arrived from Lyttelton last evening, and there being a fine breeze she sailed up to her anchorage. She is the first of the new vessels building for the Albion Shipping Company, and was built by Messrs R. Duncan and Co., of Glasgow. Her dimensions we : length of keel, 230 ft, and 241 ft over-all : 36ft beam, and 21ft depth of hold. She has lofty ’tween-decks, and a fine poop of 80ft in length. The fittings of her saloon are of bird’seye maple and walnut. She has also a steam windlass, with all the latest appliances. She left Lyttelton on Friday ; had baffling winds till off Moeraki, when she got a north-east breeze, which continued till arrival. She comes here to load grain for London, and commenced to take in her cargo this morning, the s.s. Beautiful Star bringing for her i ,047 bags of grain.
