Tuesday, July 28. (Before J. Bathgate, Esq., R.M.)

Drunkenness.— James Dufflo, Benjamin Code, John Thomson, and Anne Reid, cnarged with this offence, were all let off with a caution.

Übscbne Language.— Wm. M'Namara, for usiug profane language within the hearing of persons passing in 6t, Andrew street, was discharged with a caution. Attempting to 6tab. —Wm, Henrv Boxwell was charged, on the information of Sergeant 0 Neill, with violently assaulting Joseph Ashley on July 2ij by stabbing him with a knife.—Sub-Inspector Mallard expla ned that the prosecutor was net in attendance, and the wound was not a very severe one. Accused was given in charge last night by the prosecutor himself, and thiwould show that toe information, though laid by the police, was legally done. The Bench would see that the accused was lawfully given into custody. The wound was inflated with a knife during a disturbance in a brothel, and he (the 'ub-Inspector) surmised the prosecutor himself did not care to put in an appearance,—The case was adjourned till Thursday, prisoner to be remanded on his own bail of LlO, and two sureties of L 5 each.
