MUD MUDDLE !

To the Editor.

Sir,—Can you tell me what the inhabitants of Forth street have done that they should not receive a *hare of the favors of the Corporation, while many of the other streets in the neighborhood have enough and to spare ? The upper part of A Ibany street, for example, has been nicely asphalted, and a row of telegraph poles has been carefully planted inside the kerb, so as to afford belated pedestrians an opportuniiy, or rather Half-a-dozen opportunities, of breaking their heads. The pathway up the hill in S:. David street has b*en lately pitched, I suppose with the vi*-w of enabling the pas. ers by that route greater tafety from the infuriated cattle which will be the inmates <•{ the handsotni pound now forming such a striking feature in that thoroughfare. We in Forth street, however, are not even blessed with an artistic poun ', to say nothing of gravel on the side \yalks, but are left to struggle fnrough mud and mire qs best we can. Ihe qply consolation we have is that our neigh bora around the corner in lower Albany street are no better off. Oh ! for a resident councillor.—l am, Ac., MUDLA-RK, Dunedin, July 21.
