THE MAYORAL ELECTION.
The election of Mayor took place to-day. From an early hour this morning vehicles of all descriptions paraded the town with the names of the rival candidates on them and soliciting the ratepayers’ votes. Owing to the wet weather all the available carriages were brought into use, and the opposition committees worked very determinedly. There were 3,369 names on*the roll, and of this number 2,178 voted.
